Car finance FAQs
How do I apply for car finance?
The quickest way is to complete our online form here but if you prefer to do it over the phone or want some help with your application.
Do you arrange the loan?
No, as independent brokers we source and compare car finance deals for you from our UK wide network of lenders. We search for car finance on your behalf based on the information you provide.
How much can I borrow to buy a car?
Car finance loans can be arranged for as little as £500 up to £100,000 maximum. How much you borrow will depend on the type of car you want to buy, your current financial circumstances, and the lender’s decision.
Do you charge for your services?
No, we don’t charge you a penny for sourcing and comparing car finance packages from our network of lenders. Any fees we do make come from the lender but only if you decide to go ahead with a car loan from that company. We’re wholly independent brokers and will not try and steer you towards a particular lender. Our focus is on finding you the most competitive deal available.
How long does it take to arrange car finance?
Submitting your online application form is the first step and this should only take a few minutes, but please take time to make sure all your details are accurate and up to date. You can expect to have an answer on your application in less than an hour, hopefully with a positive result, at which point one of the team here will contact you to talk you through the process and deal with the lender. It’s possible to get everything sorted out in a matter of hours although this can vary depending on your application and whether the lender requires further documentation. Usually, all the paperwork can be completed and the cheque lodged with your bank in two to four working days.
Is my credit history important?
The lender will always run a credit check on your application before they decide whether or not to offer you a loan and on what terms. We sometimes carry out a pre-check to help speed up the process and to help us match you with the right lenders. Our checks do not appear in your credit history for future reference. Remember, while important, your credit history is only one of the factors lenders consider when deciding on your loan application.
What sort of documents do I need to provide?
This will depend on the lender’s criteria but you can expect to be asked to provide proof of your residential address and a record of your income, in the form of a bank statement or payslip.
Can I buy my car from a local dealer?
Once your car finance package has been agreed and signed and your cheque deposited in your account, you can proceed with buying your car from any dealer in the UK, including one local to you.
Is there a minimum age limit for car finance?
You must be at least 18 years of age before you can apply for car finance in the UK.
